No fear: Former O-R intern overcomes temporary discomfort to experience lifelong memories

From the moment we can walk and talk, we are conditioned to avoid the dangers of life. We are told to step back from the ledge, be wary of strangers and always color inside the lines. These guidelines keep children safe and disciplined, but it becomes problematic when, as adults, we stick to the same old rules. What distinguishes those who play it safe from those who push the boundaries is that the latter learns to control rather than succumb to fear.
